Wrong Ways Down

© Copyright Alessandra Kelley

The left edge of the picture is taken up by a muscly arm covered with tattoos, chains wrapped around the writst. In the distance a woman in red stands, her back to us, in an odd glow of lights. At the right a black 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle sits parked next to a wall of ripped nightclub posters. The full moon is red and graffiti and bilboards suggest magic.

"Wrong Ways Down" is an acrylic painting on panel commissioned for urban fantasy author Stacia Kane's novella set in her Downside series.

The cover was meant to invoke mass market paperback noir novels of the 1950s and 60s, while keeping the preternatural air of gritty urban fiction.
