Olympia

A landscape of minutely painted trees stretches upward and inward, rocks and mountain and rubble fading into blue behind them, as the blue sky centers on a black disk rimmed by rainbows through which can be seen sun, moon, and stars.

"Olympia" is an egg tempera painting on panel loosely inspired by the Devil's Lake state park in Baraboo, Wisconsin.

It was used for the cover of "Black Gate," the science fiction magazine, Issue 11 (Summer 2007).
