Welcome Wagons

"Welcome Wagons" is an egg tempera painting on panel.

This image was inspired by a dream which was itself inspired, I think, in part by the melancholy midwestern stories of Ray Bradbury. I wanted a sense of quiet otherworldliness.

So there are structures which might be circus wagons, which have the strange organic quality of wagons I saw in Baraboo, but might also be spiders or melancholy abandoned giant robots, half lost in the tall grass.

The sky is inspired by how Jupiter might look seen from one of its satellites.
